However\, our current knowledge of the air and water qual ity where we live\, work and play\, is limited due to the fact that existi ng monitoring technologies are often large and expensive to operate or hig hly labour-intensive. New methods such as lab-on-a-chip technologies\, wir eless sensor networks and robotics offer the potential to generate real-ti me and extremely local\, even personal\, environmental exposure date. In t he future\, these technologies could become the platform which will drive our understanding of environmental quality and its impact on health. In th is presentation\, Alistair Boxall will provide an overview of work being d one at York to develop novel approaches to detect and monitor pollutants i n city environments. He will describe the YorkSense project which is instr umenting the city of York with a variety of new technologies in order to g enerate an unprecedented dataset on environmental quality in the city from 2015-2016.\n DTSTART:20160126T220000Z DTEND:20160126T233000Z LOCATION:Room 204\, McConnell Engineering Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H 3A 0E9\, 3480 rue University SUMMARY:Sensing the City with Dr. Alistair Boxall (University of York)!
