Dear Macdonald Campus Community,

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I begin my journey as the new Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Associate Vice-President of the Macdonald Campus at �鶹ɫ��Ƭ. As I begin my term, I’m excited to connect with each of you - professors, lecturers, staff, learners, students, alumni, donors, and allies. Thank you for the trust you have placed in me.

On May 2, 2025, over 60 people gathered in the John Abbott College Library for the Lister Science Chats, where four Macdonald Campus graduate students presented their research and shared how past events as well as the discoveries, sometimes unintentional, and techniques of previous scientists made their work possible.

Some residents in Montreal’s Mercier-Est neighbourhood were caught off guard after Canadian National (CN) Railway sprayed a herbicide near their homes this week, CTV News reports.

Glyphosate is a powerful weedkiller banned in Montreal since 2021, as part of the city’s precautionary approach to protecting human health and the environment. But CN operates under federal jurisdiction, which means it isn’t subject to municipal rules.

The �鶹ɫ��Ƭ Libraries have developed draft strategic priorities for 2025–2030 in consultation with key stakeholders and are now inviting current �鶹ɫ��Ƭ students, faculty members, and staff to help guide the final version. 

�鶹ɫ��Ƭ Libraries closed June 24 & July 1. Three locations open June 23 & June 30.

Please note that all �鶹ɫ��Ƭ Libraries locations and service points, including online reference service will be closed on Tuesday, June 24 and Tuesday, July 1 (statutory holidays).

On Monday, June 23 and Monday, June 30, ONLY the Humanities & Social Sciences Library, Schulich Library and Marvin Duchow Music Library services and spaces will be available.

�鶹ɫ��Ƭ Libraries Website Gets a Major Refresh on July 28

On July 28, the �鶹ɫ��Ƭ Libraries website is going to undergo an extensive change. Most notably, the URL to our website will be updated to mcgill.ca/libraries to align with our rebranding to Libraries in Summer 2024. If you’ve bookmarked any favourite pages, be sure to update them once the new URLs go live.

We will also be updating our menu structure based on user research testing completed over the past two years. This new menu better reflects the needs of our users and showcases our wonderful spaces and services.
