  (GLSA) of Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s Faculty of Law is pleased to present the 12
 th Annual Graduate Law Conference and the Dean Maxwell and Isle Cohen Semi
 nar on International Law. The aim of these events is to offer an academic 
 forum for graduate students\, scholars and members of the legal profession
 \, government and industry to exchange ideas and share approaches that bri
 dge the gap between law and other disciplines.\n\nComing from all over the
  world\, participants will gather in Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s uniquely rich int
 ellectual environment to discuss the theme of ‘Law: Reactive or Proactive?
 ’. This theme acknowledges that tensions in law’s relationship with the pa
 st and the future have long animated legal\, philosophical and political t
 hought. This year’s program promises new perspectives – both theoretical a
 nd practical – in relation to these old but persistent questions.\n\nDiscu
 ssions will take place in two different kinds of sessions: panel sessions\
 ; and the Dean Maxwell and Isle Cohen Doctoral Seminar.\n\n\n	In the panel 
 sessions\, the focus will be on the conversation rather than individual pr
 esentations. Accordingly\, presentations will be kept short and moderators
  will take an active role in stimulating the exchange.\n	In the Seminar\, d
 iscussion of each paper will be inspired by a presentation by a discussant
  followed by a response from the author.\n\n\nIn addition to these discuss
 ions\, the conference will include keynote speeches from Dr. Oonagh Fitzge
 rald (Director\, International Law Research Program\, Centre for Internati
 onal Governance Innovation) and Dr. Genevieve Renard Painter (Assistant Pr
 ofessor\, Simone de Beauvoir Institute\, Concordia University.\n\nThe Orga
